Central Florida’s premier business and lifestyle magazine, the Orlando Business Journal, has included Alex Tchekmeian, president of AKT Enterprises, in its annual “Forty Under 40” list, which spotlights 40 of the region’s top young business and civic leaders. The distinguished list, noted in the June 2010 issue of the Journal, includes some of the most influential, dynamic, and successful entrepreneurs under the age of 40.
The honorees have shown consistent, outstanding, professional achievement and a commitment to community service. Those selected represent a diverse group of people who, according to the Journal, have made a positive impact on Orange County.

AKT Enterprises, the world’s premier branding, merchandising and marketing company, has announced the grand opening of Big Top by AKT, its new retail flagship store located at University Blvd and Goldenrod Rd in Winter Park, FL. Big Top, which opens its doors in August, will specialize in the development of specialty products and services, including screen-printed garments, promotional items, embroidery, design and web development.
In addition to screen printing and direct-to-garment services, Big Top provides a wide range of web and print media services, including identity development, web-based applications, web hosting and maintenance, and online stores and fulfillment. The company also operates a full-service embroidery shop, which can be used to customize hats, jackets, uniforms and other promotional items.
The Big Top storefront is a bold departure from the traditional retail store. The store features a vast selection of basic and colored t-shirts ranging from budget to premium quality. Smartpunk by District Lines has partnered with New Jersey-based rock and pop festival The Bamboozle to present all four of the 2010 GABs for Bamboozle festivals and the Bamboozle Roadshow. The GAB ("Get Absolutely Bamboozled") includes Bamboozle TV, various artist chat rooms, and a multi-topic fan forum, and is an integral part of the three Bamboozle festivals.
The Bamboozle hosts major concert events in New Jersey, California and Chicago annually. The Bamboozle Roadshow hits the road in the coming months for a nationwide tour. The tour features headliners like All Time Low, Boys Like Girls and Third Eye Blind, along with a stacked bill of support and is set to hit 26 major US cities this summer.
The GAB enables artists, fans and concert-goers to share a unique and interactive online experience on TheBamboozle.com. Similarly, the Smartpunk and District Lines shopping networks promote the same sense of community and love for music. District Lines, an AKT Enterprises company, has announced it has acquired SmartPunk, one of the world’s leading online music merchandising stores. With this acquisition, SmartPunk becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of AKT Enterprises and will join the company’s comprehensive network of design, merchandising and marketing companies.
“The SmartPunk acquisition advances our pursuit of innovation and excellence in merchandising across both online and offline communities,” said Alex Tchekmeian, president of AKT Enterprises. “The combination of District Lines and SmartPunk will create a leading force in music merchandising. In the upcoming weeks, the District Lines team will begin executing a planned integration of the two companies’ operations to ensure a smooth transition and immediate value for vendors, clients, and customers.
